Fashion Editor Alex Stedman – the blogger behind The Frugality – shares key LFW trends and how to incorporate them into your Boden wardrobe now. Think retro prints and Sixties silhouettes, beautifully soft neutral tones and rich lace.
London Fashion Week means a busy five days in my world of fashion. Autumn/winter is always a season I get excited about, not only because so many new looks emerge but also because if you’re smart you can pick up on a few key trends to wear now and get ahead of the game. So I’ve been dashing from show to show in my brilliant Boden flats to scope out the best trends to know now – and how to recreate them using Boden’s current season pieces.
Palette-cleansing nudes, taupes and paler-than-pale pinks have been the unexpected neutral hues for winter, suggesting it’s time for something different. On the runway, we saw longer-length skirts and maxi coats in softer shades, which I love and is perfect to trial this summer. Go for a clean, neatly cut pink coat paired with your favourite jeans to work it into your everyday wardrobe.
Retro patterns, brocades and carpet prints have sprung up at all the biggest shows in London. It’s a strong look to pull off but why not embrace making a statement on your own terms? Nod to the trend with Boden’s ‘Chelsea’ trouser worn with a classic cashmere crew-neck in black or navy.
Rich lace in regal reds and purples made a sumptuous statement on the catwalk, while longer lace sleeves on dresses added an elegant flourish to a more Sixties silhouette (a flattering style I adore). Try Boden’s lace demi-sleeve dress in a summery hue paired with the embellished jewelled sling-backs for a chic ‘nod to mod’ that’ll take you from season to season.
