We don’t trust just anyone to set the style vision when we’re shooting our new collections. Meet Caroline Issa – fashion consultant, co-owner of fashion, art and literature magazine Tank and chief stylist of our Autumn Winter 2016 lookbook. In amongst piles of new-season clothes, shoes and accessories, we managed to steal five minutes with the lady in question.
How did you get involved with Boden?
“It was after the Boden Icons collection came out last winter – I was really excited about this amazing collection of beautiful British classics by a truly successful and passionate entrepreneur, Johnnie Boden. I got the most perfect navy A-line skirt from the collection and when I heard about Future British, their initiative to support young talent in the UK, I was hooked. I was lucky enough to be asked to style the Autumn Winter 2016 look book and had so much fun picking through an excellent collection to find outfits and looks that are both timeless and on-trend.”
What do you like about the Boden brand?
“I love the attention to detail on the clothing and also the amazing fabrics they source – the British tweeds are particularly fabulous.”
What new-season pieces stand out for you?
“The coats for AW16 are a great shape and come in beautiful fabrics; there’s a classic camel coat that will be perfect for Autumn. There’s also a striped silk shirt dress that is the easiest silhouette to slip on and look chic in two seconds. Don’t get me started on the accessories – the leopard-print booties will be on my feet pounding the London pavements!”
Which trends will filter on to the high street this year?
“Tailoring, tweeds and twinsets were all big trends on the runway for Autumn Winter and Boden will have you covered.”
What are the key things to consider when putting together an outfit?
“Playing with colour is an easy way to have fun with new pieces. If you have a pair of trousers or a skirt that is your go-to shape and silhouette that you trust, why not get it in a colour you normally wouldn’t try as an update? Mixing and matching colour and print is a great way to take you out of your routine. Have fun with it!”
Great style is…
Keep your eyes peeled for the new collection – coming soon.
