Sade Akinsanya, blogger at In My Sunday Best, reveals the Boden pieces she’ll be buying to see her through every season.
“Dressing for the British weather is a balancing act. One minute the sun is shining, the next it’s rain, rain and more rain. I’ve found the key to dressing for such uncertainty lies in investment pieces that you can wear all year round, are of excellent quality and have the ability to look stylish whatever the weather.
“I’ve picked my favourite new-season pieces that are guaranteed to work for every situation and every weather eventuality – just add or remove the appropriate layer accordingly. Think of it as your year-round wardrobe checklist.”
That’s A Wrap
“A wardrobe staple that has been around for decades is the wrap dress, and Boden’s Cressida Dress is absolutely perfect because of its wearability. The shape works brilliantly on most body shapes as it nips in at the waist and finishes quite freely on the legs, making it comfortable and stylish. A good option for a work event or an Autumn wedding paired with some strappy bow-point shoes. And if the weather cools down, you can add the head-turning Sally coat and pop on a pair of tights.”
“I can’t get enough of denim dresses – they’re another on-trend, year-round style staple and I have a growing collection of them in a variety of cuts and fits. Light enough for balmy summer evenings but with a shape that would partner well with smart boots on colder days, the Lola dress is the epitome of a transitional piece. Denim is a great blank canvas for colours and textures, so experiment by adding a bright pink coat, a bold necklace and some leopard print accessories to pack a serious style punch. Alternatively. roll the sleeves up, unbutton the collar and wear with some simple sandals to see the summer out.”
The Perfect Pairing
Spots or Stripes? How about Spots AND Stripes? My mother always told me that everyone needs a good shirt and a comfortable pair of jeans in their wardrobe and, like most things in life, she was right. There is something so classic and stylish about throwing on your favourite jeans with a shirt and some delicate jewellery. The Weekend Shirt has to be my favourite because it’s so lightweight and easy to wear. You can add a crew neck cardigan as the temperature drops, or wear the shirt open over a vest top in summer with a pair of Mayfair skinny jeans and some seriously comfy pointed flats.
