Behind The Seams: Mallorca

Team Boden flew to the dreamy Spanish island of Mallorca back in April to shoot our summer range against a backdrop of beautiful beaches, characterful streetscapes and a glittering ocean. But what really goes on behind the camera? Boden Art Director Victoria Williams talks us through her visual diary of the week…

Picture perfect
“I can’t say there wasn’t a cloud in the sky, but we were VERY lucky with the weather. Mallorca treated us to plenty of sunshine and temperatures in the mid-twenties all week.”

Hat’s off

“The story behind the picture? The wind nearly took the model’s hat off the side of the cliff (more than once).”

Neighbourhood watch
“This adorable pup kept an eye on the Boden crew as we took pictures in the very photogenic old town of Alcudia in the north of the island. We also spotted many, MANY cats during our week touring the island.”

Work, work, work
“Siesta time! In truth, there was no sleeping done on set, although we began shooting at 7am most days so it certainly would have been great to pause for a post-lunch power nap.”

Take five

“Confession: the team had a bit of trouble navigating the winding streets of Alcudia’s old town. On several occasions we totally lost each other (and took the opportunity to break for ice cream, naturally).”

Shop the shoot
“While shooting in a traditional shop selling homewares in Cassai (in the southeast of the island) I bought some beautiful glasses to use as props.”

The big blue
“Another highlight? We took a boat trip from the port of the fishing village, captained by a very charming Spanish gentleman.”

Whatever it takes
“What you can see: our model looking rather surprised. What you can’t see: our photographer teetering on the water’s edge in the port of Cala Figuera in order to get the perfect shot.”
